The West Point Route

The Atlanta & West Point and the Western Railway of Alabama

By Jerry Doyle.

Color laminated hardbound, 8.5x11", 190 pages, 16 page color section, crisp b/w photos throughout.

What was known as "THE WEST POINT ROUTE" consisted of the Western Railway of Alabama and the Atlanta and West Point Rail Road. Operations spanned Georgia and Alabama.

"Once considered by David Morgan of TRAINS magazine to be the "All American Railroad" (in spite of its cpmparatively short 225-mile length), the A&WP / WAG had full-blown passenger and freight operations. Under the control of the Atlantic Coast Line and the Southern, the West Pointe Route forwarded such trains as the "Piedmont Limited" and "The Crescent".

"Hanson's book at last gives us a detailed, cogent, and well-documented history of this widely recognized but little-understood road."
